Baked Apples with Oatmeal Crisp Topping

How about them apples?

These taste like apple crisp but better…because they’re in the apple and who doesn’t want to make their food into a serving bowl too? I want to swan dive into these with a spoon but moderation is sometimes a thing I try to practice. Being an adult is hard and no one warns you. That’s why I love these – you can have your cake and eat it too.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cold and diced (MUST be cold – trust me)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup oats, uncooked
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Cut apples in half, take out core. (you can butterfly too)
  3. Place in baking dish with enough water to just cover bottom.
  4. Mix oats, flour, sugar and cinnamon together. Add to apples.
  5. Top with butter cubes.
  6. Bake until apple is soft, about 40 minutes.
